Part
4: Colours on show
Even though the sun
refused to shine over the weekend, the static park was brightened slightly by a fine
scattering of paint-jobs, some subtle, some not so. Best of all was Mirage
F1C 24/33-FC with bright red "Lorraine" markings, celebrating sixty years of
the unit, one half of the display duo that transgressed the rules on Saturday. A close
second was AMX MM7101 with a vivid yellow-and-blue scheme of 103
Gruppo, nicknamed the "Indians". A shame that it was not better positioned in
the static, as it was a work of art in itself and deserved a decent canvas backdrop.
Nose art was much in evidence on the KC135s
as usual, with a selection ranging from Warner Bros to city landscapes, but more unusually was also on an F16.
Many of the paint-jobs had been seen before,
either at past IATs or shows earlier this year, so without any further ado, here is a
smattering of some seen over the weekend.
